Welcome to MLBC Lakers
The Mt. Lilydale Basketball Club was founded in 1996 by the teacher’s at Mount Lilydale Mercy College. There were a few teams playing in an after school competition, and the teachers donated their time.
In 1997 the club was incorporated, as it had started to grow. By 2004, there were 22 teams, 2011 35 teams and in Summer 2022 we entered 512 players in 71 teams ranging from Mini-ball through to Under 21 and continue to grow.
The club is now known as M.L.B.C Lakers and is run by a committee of parents as well as past players. There are still strong links to the college as a many players attend. Training is also held at the Doyle Centre at the college every week.
M.L.B.C Lakers is a community club that is dedicated to ensuring every child has the chance to play basketball. The season fees are as low as we can make them, to cover Gym hire, trophies, uniforms and coaches equipment.
All coaches & 18+’s have ‘working with children’ checks, and the club pays for any coach’s clinics/courses that will help them to work on the players skills and understanding of the game.
The Lakers teams have been successful over the years, with many premierships won!
While we like to win, even more important to us is that every player enjoys playing and feels welcome and encouraged at all times. It is a great club to be involved with, as our growing numbers prove.
At MLBC we love to see children of all ages developing new skills, whilst learning to be a team player from Miniball (U7) to Under 21.
