Development Programs

We love to see our players grow and thrive, from Miniball through Domestic, to Representative Basketball and even representing our state or further. When a player is actively trying to grow, the Lakers will be there to help. We provide opportunities like our open Skills Sessions and our Player Development Academy for those players looking to continue to improve and move forward on a basketball pathway.

MLBC Lakers are proud of our players, and will always support them in their basketball endeavours.

Free – Fundamentals Skills

Fridays, 4:30pm – 5:30pm

As part of our commitment to player growth, the MLBC Lakers offer a Fundamental Skills program for beginners, held on Friday afternoons from 4:30pm to 5:30pm at the Doyle Centre, MLMC. These sessions, led by Lily Exton & Taleesha O’Kane, are free of charge and open to any player wishing to improve their basketball fundamentals, such as:

  • Defensive slides
  • Passing
  • Dribbling (eyes up!)
  • Left & Right hand layups
  • Rebounding

Please note that these sessions are popular, so registration and weekly RSVPs via Spond are required.

A huge thank you to Paul Beagley of Fletchers Mooroolbark for his continued support in sponsoring this program. Paul is not only a valued sponsor of the Lakers, but also a coach within our club, and his ongoing contribution to both our players and broader community is greatly appreciated.
